The hotel is just 1 mile away from Puerto Madero, and we were really pleased with the rooms and the food, no complaints at all!

The barman and the female employee who started on the 20th was lovely. As were the other staff however the other staff were not helpful enough. The location was good because San Telmo is a beautiful area.
I wish the bulk of the staff were more helpful. They were often busy but didnt go out of their way to help in the same style staff at other hostels often do. Also, the kitchen was poor.

Good location, busy hostel with great advice and planned activities. Classic hostel style vibe. Good mix of all ages.
Take earplugs - located on a busy street.

We got a special reduced price on this hostal which made it a great bargain. The price, offered by Booked.net, gave us a deluxe double with huge bathroom for around $37 a night US. I liked having a TV , a window in the bedroom and a comfortable bed. The Breakfasts were great. Generous, varied and with fresh fruit. Staff at front were very helpful.
It is rather drab and colorless. I think the double bed should have a mattress pad under the sheet for comfort and cleanliness.

This Che Lagarto hostel is a really good one if you like to stay in a central location, are in for some partying and don´t want to pay too much. Really friendly, helpfull staff who organises all kind of activities from pasta nights to pub crawls. The 8 bed dorm where I stayed in is spacious, has two bathrooms and was cleaned twice a day. The location is really good, just outside of San Telmo, near Plaza de Mayo and the subway. There is a great empanada place around the corner (Urban Deli) and a good pattiserie/bakery around the other corner). In San Telmo are many nice restaurants.
Although the bathroom got cleaned twice a day, don´t expect too much from it. Things work, but is ain´t all too fancy. That also counts for the kitchen, which has a lack of good equipment.

Staff were fairly relaxed and friendly. Breakfast was excellent - tasty and a lot of food. The design of the place is nice, with a pretty backyard area. The location is good, too.
At least some of the bathrooms smelled bad.
